The cheapest repair is the one that never happens
Excimer systems drift. Optics haze, gas mixes deplete, energy meters wander. A scheduled maintenance visit keeps your delivered dose honest and your downtime at zero.
What a PM visit includes
- Energy output verification with calibrated external meter
- Beam profile and spot uniformity check
- Optical train inspection and cleaning
- Gas system check / exchange as needed
- Interlock and safety system test
- Cooling system and filter service
- Written report for your compliance binder
Recommended cadence
For a laser treating daily: a full PM every 6 months, with a quick energy verification monthly (I'll show your staff how). Lighter use: annual PM at minimum.
Practices on a maintenance plan get priority scheduling when something does break — you go to the front of the line.
Signs you're overdue
- Patients needing more pulses for the same erythema response
- Longer warm-up or more frequent self-test failures
- Energy display drifting between sessions
- It's been more than a year since anyone opened the service panel
